A proper crawler in a small size

The Beast Max is built to climb rather than to go fast. A metal frame, gearboxes in both axles, spring shocks on every corner and a body styled on a Wrangler — all at 1/20 scale, so it works indoors on a rock pile as happily as it does outside in the garden.

Lights, including a screen on the back

LED headlights, an iridescent roof light bar and taillights — plus a dot-matrix screen in the tail that scrolls patterns. It is a genuinely good-looking thing to run after dark.

The chassis

A metal frame carries the motor, gearbox and both axle gearboxes, running on high-precision bearings. Steering is a 5g three-wire digital servo. The spring shocks are the fixed type, not adjustable — normal at this size and price.

Magnetic body — no screws to swap a battery

The shell is held on by magnets. Lift it off, change the battery, drop it back. No clips to snap and no body pins to lose in the grass.

Built to climb

A 58° approach angle, 54° departure and a short overhang let it attack steps and rocks that stop a longer car, and it will take slopes of up to 70°. The anti-slip off-road tyres are the soft grippy kind that hold on loose ground instead of sliding.

Inside

Full proportional control

Squeeze the trigger a little and it creeps; squeeze it fully and it goes — the same with the steering. That fine control is what a crawler needs to place a wheel exactly where you want it. Range is 80 metres.

Full specification from the maker

This is the factory's own comparison sheet. Your car is the blue Carbon-brush version on the right — the yellow column is the brushless model, which is a different, dearer car.
